This months’ book review is by my 13 year old son! He wanted to wait until school was finished before attempting ‘another’ book report. Ha! But he was looking forward to this. Let’s hear from him: 13 year old: My family and I live on a farm. We grow corn,…

    Daily: MAY

This particular day was cloudy with off and on rain. I really enjoyed all of the homemaking it brought. But this day also brought two sweet visits! One from a dear friend heading home to southern Missouri; and one from Sweet Husband’s aunt and her granddaughter! I began our day…

This is a quick and easy project post! As it is garden season, I’ve been using my homemade garden journal almost weekly! I made it early in our marriage to record what we planted and when as well as each plants’ location. As plants have died, I have had to…

What have you been about this spring-y month of April? I was able to prune our fruit trees and bushes a bit… although I’m very inexperienced at this. I was thrilled to see blossoms on some trees we’ve not yet collected fruit from in the past. I have been baking…

  • Gardening Tips from a Non-Expert

Chatting gardening is a strange thing for me. I don’t want to overwhelm anyone… but I have also learned some things the hard way and I don’t want anyone else to have to if I can help! Some people ask me things about gardening and I am no expert! But,…

    GO- emergency bags

I’m sure the word prepared is over used in our culture today. However, it holds an excellent place used in proper channels in our daily lives. After a recent incident, I wanted to become more prepared in emergency situations. Sweet Husband can be very efficient and, though he never was…

Welcome to
Honey and the Hen!

Currently I don’t have any bees (or honey). We do have meat chickens now – yay!
And we also recently purchased 20 laying pullets. I live with my Sweet Husband and 3 kids in Central Illinois. I love homesteading, homemaking, and homeschooling. We are thankful to be saved by grace in Jesus and seek to follow Him and His Word. I am originally from Tennessee and one of six children, using much of my upbringing in what I do and love now. I enjoy learning, growing, and keeping my home with enthusiasm as unto the Lord. We garden and hope to raise more of our own food as we can. Thanks for stopping by!
