I’m a bit behind posting August, but here is a little catch up for you!

A fall crop of shell ‘October’ beans coming up! I planted 3 rows here where our brassicas and onions had been. We will let them completely dry down, shell the beans, and use in chili this winter.

We adopted a rooster from my niece and her parents. He got big quick and wanted to see our part of the state. His name is Baker!

A lot of lovely harvest goings on. A few carrots, cucumbers, green beans, and mammoth sunflower heads.

We got to eat good meals! Some fresh garden crops, some more ‘comfort’ foods. Freshly milled pizza, beef stew, loaded baked nachos.

Our meat birds have grown a lot! We had a hawk come in and with more efforts than you can name or imagine, he still got one bird every morning for a week! We finally have a strobe light and siren that seems to deter him, alongside our zigzag rope and streamers, two ‘scarecrows, and many other trial and errors. This years’ meat birds have been a journey! Butcher date: Sept 26.

And finally, a Labor Day family bike ride!
What have you been up to? Have you checked out our Facebook page?
