A Year in Review

A Year in Review

Happy 100th blog post!!! Thank you for supporting me this past year as I have enjoyed lots of creative sharing. I thought it would be fun to share a photo from each month in 2024 as a recap before jumping with both feet into 2025!

January– a wee rest under my favorite ‘picnic’ quilt with our cat snooping around.

February– Sweet Husband and I were gifted a trip to Starved Rock State Park, IL for our anniversary! The temperature was fairly moderate so we took trails and enjoyed the lovely views.

March– my son decided to gather our birdhouses and fix them. He took some apart and rebuilt, painted others, etc.

April– I was able to visit my grandparents in TN. They don’t live in this cabin, but it’s a beautiful view!

May– our flood and hail storm hit. Thankfully, not a large ranged storm and the damage wasn’t wide spread.

June– I had a wee date with my ten year old. He took me to our pond. We had a picnic and he rowed us in the boat. Sweet Husband and I try to take dates with our kids routinely. Nothing big! Just time spent one on one.

July– after a family visit with my family in TN, Sweet Husband planned an afternoon for us at Mammoth Cave!

August– instead of taking a large vacation this summer, we took a few small trips (One was Mammoth Cave as mentioned above). Sweet Husband planned a 3 day Southern IL trip to several state parks.

September– beginnings of fall, endings of flowers, and a 7th birthday party.

October– fall is here and so is a re-learned skill: knitting! One kiddo and I took up knitting and continue to enjoy it on cold evenings. This is also the month I gain a teenager.

November– lots to be thankfully for! Thanksgiving was celebrated with my parents and two elderly ladies from our church- what a blessing! We played Thanksgiving Bingo, sang hymns, and ate a delicious lunch.

December– the end of the year doesn’t mean I’ve quit learning! What fun cheesemaking is. I love learning new ways of feeding my family nourishing foods.

What will 2025 hold for us? Blessings abound! Please subscribe and received emails as soon as a blog post is posted!

The bacon in your September picture looks like an autumn leaf – how fun! 🙂

Welcome to
Honey and the Hen!

Currently I don’t have any bees (or honey). We do have meat chickens now – yay!
And we also recently purchased 20 laying pullets. I live with my Sweet Husband and 3 kids in Central Illinois. I love homesteading, homemaking, and homeschooling. We are thankful to be saved by grace in Jesus and seek to follow Him and His Word. I am originally from Tennessee and one of six children, using much of my upbringing in what I do and love now. I enjoy learning, growing, and keeping my home with enthusiasm as unto the Lord. We garden and hope to raise more of our own food as we can. Thanks for stopping by!
