This particular day was cloudy with off and on rain. I really enjoyed all of the homemaking it brought. But this day also brought two sweet visits! One from a dear friend heading home to southern Missouri; and one from Sweet Husband’s aunt and her granddaughter!

I began our day by baking some brown sugar sour cream muffins using freshly milled flour.

The second baking effort was a batch of cheesy crackers. This recipe called for cheddar, but when I opened the packet (new!), it had already molded. Ugh! So… mozzarella it was. They are yummy!

We had baked nachos for lunch using leftover Mexican rice we needed to eat and I added some extra ground beef/liver that had been browned and spiced it up. I drained and rinsed some black beans. Added frozen corn. And topped it with homemade cheese and salsa. We ate this over lettuce.

What’s a ‘home day’ without laundry… and garden gloves… and mail? Martin the Beta fish likes to visit while I fold clothes.

Dishes dishes… out my ears. But what a blessed mess to clean up.
My kiddos enjoyed some hands on projects: my 13 year old read aloud while my 11 year old knitted and my 7 year old embroidered. I was one proud mama watching them.
Happy May to you! Blessings during this beautiful month. Subscribe to keep in the ‘know’ of each new post. Also, check out the Honey and the Hen Facebook page for ‘photos of the day’ during May!
