Simple days at home and an errand here or there can constitute a large majority of our days. Adding in the regulars like housework, play, homeschooling, and family time rounds it all out.

Most of my days begin in the kitchen! I like to get something going, even if it is putting away the clean dishes from the night before. After getting things in order, we begin school around 8:00 most mornings. We start our days with Bible time, which includes some sort of book (this year has been ‘Our 24 Family Ways’ by Clay and Sally Clarkson), a hymn, and prayer sticks. We put the name of each person from our extended family onto a popsicle stick and draw randomly to pray for them.

I began getting things ready for lunch late morning. This kitchen time included more homemade yogurt and peanut butter cookies…. for any of you that know me well, you know this is an applause moment as I do not like baking cookies.

In the early afternoon, we drove my Sweet Husband to pick up the combine where it was getting it’s routine inspection done. On the way home, the kids and I did our audio memory work review and stopped to take a couple of pictures from one of my very favorite places locally! It reminds me of where I grew up. We stop as often as we are on that country road.

I think this was an old farm site. Look at the huge old trees!

When we got home, I had a quick phone meeting for our local homeschooling group. Then, the kids and I jumped back into the van and headed to the library. My oldest son takes piano lessons in town as well, once weekly during the school year.

When we arrived back home, we checked on our new meat chickens. One had escaped and my youngest son was able to get her back in and fashion a temporary barrier so that no others would get out. My Sweet Husband made a more permanent barrier. We ordered 50 birds and have already lost one. It’s very hard but I know it is also normal. Farm life. We take good care of our animals and we seek to train our children in this area. These birds will grow about 9 weeks before we take them to be processed. It is very important for me that our kids are a part of growing their own food and animal husbandry is able to play a part with these meat birds. (More on that another time!)

On my way back up to the house I noticed more lovely hyacinths blooming. Two were leaned over on the ground so I picked them and put them into my favorite Ironstone pitcher. ‘Drink them in, Marilla.’ (Name that book!)

The end of the day meant supper and dishes, family time and Bible time. After we put the kids to bed, my Sweet Husband and I watched a little bit of basketball… that usually means we sit together and he watches while I read some Pinterest articles or peruse a bit. TeeHee.

My little girl picked these cute tiny flowers for me and my mama gave my this adorable egg cup! Happy Easter! Christ the Lord is risen!
